My First Moment of Panic

Now that I've completed my manuscript, I've officially suffered my first panic attack. What if this sucks!?!!!! What if I've wasted all of this passion, time, energy, and effort on a hopeless cause!?! What if I just don't have what it takes?

Do I really want to know?

Okay...now that I've gotten that out of my system, it's time to press on.

My Poor, Poor Neglected Blog

When I was child, I really wanted a horse. I begged and begged my parents, "Please...I promise I'll take care of it. I'll feed it and ride it, and give it lots of love."

My parents' reply; "No."

But then I grew up, and guess what I got. That's right. I got myself a horse. So, do I feed it and ride it and give it lots of love? Nope, but my kids do.

Maybe I should turn my blog over to my kids.


You guys will have to forgive me. I have been CONSUMED with finishing my manuscript, No Other. However, it is near completion and I am about to begin seeking representation. I intend to document the ups and downs of this journey. I'm sure it will be bumpy, but on the bright side, that should give me plenty to post about so I can fatten up this scrawny blog.

Short Story

This isn't much of a post. Just thought I'd stick up the link to this short story of mine,"Anticipation," running in The Cynic this month.

You'll see why it fit that particular publication. The story is completely fictional (this did not happen to me, or anyone I know)but it was inspired, a bit, by a friend of mine who lived a couple of doors down my Freshman year. Her roommate and her liked the same guy. Sometimes I wonder if they lay in bed at night plotting ways to make the other look stupid. Hmm, an idea for another story?

Hiatus Over

Well, after taking a four week hiatus, I've decided it's time to post again. I'd hoped that the break would give me a chance to fill my mind with inspiring, insightful ideas that I could share with you all in the hopes that we may better ourselves (holding back a snicker). Unfortunately, it seems that my quest has been fruitless, and for that, I must blame American Idol.

This year I've gone from being an AI viewer, to being an all out Fangirl. Am I embarassed by that? Yes. Does it keep me from telling everyone? No.

I guess it's that hometown thing. You see, Kris Allen is from Arkansas, and I live in Arkansas. I figure that since everyone in Arkansas is supposedly "related", he must be a distant cousin or something.(That's a joke, btw)You've got to admit, Arkansas is widely misunderstood. But, seriously, there is a strong feeling of kinship in the state and we look after our own. GO KRIS ALLEN!

Apart from team spirit, the kid is amazingly talented. It also doesn't hurt that he's super kee-yewt! (I wrote that just to embarass my daughter)And, as a writer friend of mine pointed out, he has the same mannerisms as my favorite character in my current WIP (work in progress). How can I not vote for him!

Oh! During my hiatus I did manage to get two short stories accepted for publication. So, I guess I did accomplish more than just waisting cell phone minutes on voting.

Crazy Week

It's been a crazy week. A tornado hit Mena, and we lost power for a few days and internet for longer, so I'm just getting around to checking on my blog. I know I still need to come up with a useful post pertaining to writing, but I'm in overload, just a wee bit, at the moment. I do have some ideas brewing though!

Because of some other family circumstances that have arisen, we're leaving town for a few days, so I'm going to close the contest down tomorrow. Check tomorrow evening for the winner. A new contest will be announced in May with the same prize.

Sorry for the brief post. There's a lot on the plate at the moment. I will post some pics to give you an idea of what we're dealing with.
