What I remember about the Nova is my Spanish teacher in highschool telling me that they didn't sell well in Mexico because the name means "no go" in Spanish. Marketing blunder, eh?

Ruth Ann, Deb was on another blog last week, and she made the comment that no one believed Damages would sell b/c it was about an unGodly marriage. It reminds of of your book, His Redeeming Bride, and how Neil and Sarah's marriage was for reasons other than love at first, but that changed over time.Shawna K. Mine wouldn't sell with a publisher either because of it's religious and sexual content (all sex honored in marriage, unless there's a good point to have it outside to teach a lesson). I can tell you I get a lot of emails from women thanking me for writing romances with morals and an appreciation for a marital (meaning sexual) relationship. It turns out there's a big hunger for it.

Great interview. :-) And I don't do outlines either. I'd have to try to suppress who I am, and to quote Rocky the Flying Squirrel: "But that trick NEVER works!"Debhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13100565897627429788noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7692609412117539708.post-30295099322125301402010-03-22T14:49:28.005-07:002010-03-22T14:49:28.005-07:00That's wonderful Toni!
They're taking a ...That's wonderful Toni!

They're taking a chance with me too. My book, No Other, is an inspirational. It's written very tame, but it still explores the topic of unplanned pregnancy -- in a time period when this would have been considered a real scandal, no matter your spiritual belief. I wasn't trying to be controversial. I actually dreamed this story. But I know so many people this has happened to, even Christians, and I wanted to write a true to life story about after, in terms of forgiveness and moving forward. I also wanted to create characters that readers would like, maybe even love, so that they can see this as sometimes happening to good kids, that messed up. I'm getting more and more terrified as my release date approaches.

Deb said in a blog post last week that her book, Damages, is about an unGodly marriage that is made into what God intended over time. That sounds beautiful to me.Shawna K. Congrats on making sales with those unsellable novels.

Did you find writing your historical fiction was a big departurce (sp?) from writing your inspirationals?

StephStephanie Burkhart https://www.blogger.com/profile/16952130018587727063noreply@blogger.com
